Hawaii State Library

The Libby App...needs to be retired. Barely a month in, it is a horrible program. There is a feature to download items, for reading offline. Online is atrocious, It would be faster if I hand wrote the page! The response time, with good connection, is almost non-existent. My app was set to download all items, the little icons (for all my items) spun for days, nothing was downloaded. I finally got it to stop and have not bee able to download a single magazine. Attempt to read a magazine are so frustrating. Turning a page takes forever, I am not sure if it is not responding to my touch or taking forever, at which point, when a new page appears, there is no way of telling how may pages you advanced, it is like following a ball in a ping pong match. There is not one thing that I find useful in this app. Tutorials - from this website and beyond - have not been helpful. I now dread opening the Libby app. What took me 10 or 15 minutes to read a magazine, now takes hours, as I need to step away, or risk the urge to smack my iPad against something, which unfortunately would not break Libby. I am nowhere near doing the same amount of tasks that I was pre-Libby. I see a parting of ways in my near future. It does not deserve the one star I am forced to choose, that is above and beyond generous.

It great but their hours suck Can't ever go to the library since they close at 4pm except on Thursdays. I seriously can't find anywhere to study for my classes that's open till 8pm they all close around 4/4:30pm ! And my classes don't finish till 3 sooo yeah. One thing I miss about the mainland is their library hours. You're out of luck if you work a 9-5 job you'll only be able to visit on Saturdays or for 2 hours on Thursday. And good luck trying to pick up those library holds during the small time frame they're open. It's made me switch to just ebooks now. Wish they would put more resources into hiring people to expand their hours.

Staff always helpful in answering questions. I am glad when having finished a "good read" , there is the "Friends of The Library fund area, by the Front Entrance , were books maybe donated, & purchased for a pittance, to help support in it's operational maintenance of the Library. Thereby, giving the books a new life, in a recycling, kind of way...!
